Does This Describe You Well?
There’s a good chance you’re going to have a layover at London Heathrow Airport if you’re travelling internationally. And it can be a good thing! Perhaps your flight out is on the next day; you have time to kill. Heathrow Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. The airport hosts airlines from all over the world. On the inside, you’ll find many eateries, shops and something to try to do for everyone.
Here are five things you shouldn’t miss out on when you’re at LHR:
Find Something to Eat
Airport food isn’t always the most exorbitant, but this one has many options. I personally love Caviar House and Prunier Seafood Bar at terminal 4: who doesn’t like a glass of champagne and some caviar? Maybe you’re more into shrimp, smoked fish, or some oysters. They have various cuisines: ranging from Lebanese, Italian, French, classic British food to even vegan options. Look around your terminal for what’s available according to your taste buds.
Explore London
If you have a very long layover, you may be able to go out and see London. Travellers can access the city through London’s Underground/Tube, Heathrow Express and Heathrow connect train lines. Please don’t do this if you don’t have at least 6 hours between your flights. You can pick your mode of transport depending on your budget and the time that’s flexible for you. There are London Black taxis, but they work out more expensive. Once you’re in the city centre, there are plenty of places for you to go check out. Do your research, choose your places of interest and plan wisely, but make sure you’re back by at least 2 hours before your next flight.
Airport Bowl
London is one of the few airports that have a great bowling alley. Bowling at Heathrow has never been more fun! If you’ve got kids, or you want to spend time like a one, head over here. They have 36 lanes, a restaurant that serves good food, and a licensed bar. It has a great atmosphere, good prices, and cheap drinks! Don’t feel like bowling at Heathrow? Not a problem, they got an arcade area and pool tables.
Duty-Free Shopping
Heathrow has many options for shoppers. They have everything from luxurious products to something under your budget. You’ll find brands like Gucci, Hugo Boss, Bulgari, Cartier and so much more. Shopping doesn’t have to be limited to clothes: there are wines/spirits, cosmetics, watches, etc. Even perfume! Let’s not forget the books and chocolates while we’re at it.
Get Yourself a Makeover
Because, why not? What are you in the mood for? A partial or complete makeover maybe? You can choose what you like! There are plenty of duty-free beauty services. You can go to a spa, get a new style maybe.
Remember, you don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to. You can simply rest, read a book that you like, charge your phone/laptop, and stay connected with family/friends/coworkers with the airport’s free Wi-Fi. Want to stretch? Walk around the airport; it’s pretty big. If you’re bored, go spot some planes. They have a great view! Don’t be bummed about your layover at Heathrow, you’ll find something that comforts you for sure.
